He is credited with making HCL as one of the biggest hardware company on a global basis. HCL is made up of two subsidiary holdings-HCL Infosystems and HCL Technologies. He’s ranked 182th in the world in terms of his net worth. 8. Sunil Mittal Sunil Mittal, who established Bharti Enterprises and presently the CEO of the Bharti Group, is the 8 th richest Indian with an asset base valued at approximately $6.8 billion. He occupies the 173 rd rank in the Forbes listing of global billionaires. Bharti Airtel, the flagship company of Bharti Enterprises is the biggest mobile service provider in India. 7. Savitri Jindal Savitri Jindal whose net worth is estimated to be $7.6 billion holds the reins of the O.P. Jindal group that is the sole stockist and supplier of a seasoning used in different food items. She’s also been an erstwhile member of the Vidhan Sabha in Haryana. She is ranked 155 in the list of most affluent individuals in the world. 6. Kumar Mangalam Birla Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group is the youngest of all the top 10 billionaires in India aged 47. With an asset base totalling $7.6 billion, he’s ranked 150 th in the world. The Aditya Birla mainly deals in commodities. 5. Ravi and Shashi Ruia Ravi Ruia and Shashi Ruia are the founders of the Essar Group that has business interests in steel, power, communication, shipping, energy, and logistics. Their total worth is valued at $8.5 billion and they occupy the 131 st rank on a worldwide basis. 4. Dilip Sanghvi Dilip Sanghvi who founded Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd is the 4 th richest Indian with a total asset base of $ 9.4 billion and has the 116 th rank in the list of world’s most well-heeled personalities. 3. Azim Premji Azim Premji who founded India’s first and truly global software enterprise ‘Wipro’ is alleged to be worth $11.2 billion. He is also one of the most well known philanthropists in the country billed as India’s Bill Gates. He has generously donated millions to different social and academic establishments. Wipro offers IT and ITES services. 2. Lakshmi Mittal Lakshmi Mittal is famous all over the world as the owner of Arcelor Mittal-the world’s biggest iron and steel enterprise. He’s a sagacious industrialist based in London with deep Indian roots. He occupies the 2 nd slot in the list with assets valued at $16.5 billion. He is ranked 41 st in the Forbes list of global billionaires. Mukesh Ambani Mukesh Ambani continues to retain the top slot in the list with a net asset base of $21.5 billion. He is the 22 nd wealthiest person in the world and the second wealthiest in Asia. He’s the head honcho of Reliance Industries that has interests in gas, oil and petrochemicals.
